Repair the appliance or replace it?
This is the most common question we encounter in our practice. The answer might be different depending on the particular situation – not all people and appliances are created equal. However, there is a general rule of thumb when it comes to the question of whether you need to repair or replace the appliance.
We divide all appliance malfunctions into two main groups: minor and major issues. We do recommend repairing the appliances if they have minor issues, such as the following:
- Dryers: worn rollers, belts, pulleys, failed fuses, and timers.
- Washers: failed drain pumps, water valves, door gaskets, and thermistors.
- Refrigerators: failed thermistors, fans, defrost heaters & thermostats, main control boards.
- Ranges and ovens: failed fuses, heaters, igniters, user interfaces.
On the other hand, we typically do not recommend repairing appliances if they have the following major problems:
- Dryers: damaged drum.
- Washers: failed drum bearings.
- Refrigerators: body insulation problems.
This is a general rule. However, for the right answer, it’s a good idea to properly diagnose the appliance before making the decision! Please call us to receive the best same-day appliance repair and diagnostic in Orange County, CA.
Our recent projects in appliance repair in Irvine
GE refrigerator repair Irvine, CA, 92603

This built-in GE refrigerator was exhibiting several issues: a loud knocking noise, flickering lights inside, a non-functional control panel, and the refrigerator itself failing to cool, remaining at room temperature. During diagnosis, our technician pinpointed the source of the noise: the lower damper in the fresh food section.
Modern GE refrigerators utilize DC motors to operate various functions such as dampers and fans. However, one drawback of DC motors is that without a protection circuit, if they short out, they can shut down the entire system. This is precisely what occurred with the lower damper motor, causing the main control board to be unable to function.
To resolve the issue, our technician replaced both the main control board and the damper due to damage to the capacitors. Following the professional repair, the refrigerator is now operating flawlessly.
Viking range repair in Irvine, CA, 92620. Fire Station

The unit encountered a complex, multi-component issue initially, starting with the malfunction of the oven’s bake function. Upon examination, the technician determined that the oven relay board had sustained severe damage from a short circuit in the baking element, rendering it inoperable. Furthermore, the broil element was identified as being shorted. To rectify these issues, the technician replaced all affected elements, including the main relay board.
Subsequently, the crew reported a problem with the oven’s inconsistent temperature maintenance a few days later. This particular Viking range utilizes a hybrid operation system, incorporating traditional temperature thermostats alongside an electronic main control board. While the board activates the heating elements using dedicated relays, the conventional thermostat, equipped with a temperature probe, communicates with the board. However, due to an internal malfunction, this thermostat was unable to function correctly. The issue was resolved by replacing the thermostat. Additionally, the crew requested the replacement of the door hinges due to the door’s difficulty in closing smoothly.
As a result of these repairs, the oven has been fully restored to optimal functionality and is now operating as if brand new!
LG dryer repair Irvine, CA, 92618

This gas dryer was not heating. Unlike machines from other brands, LG dryers use a feature called Flow Sense. This electronic system doesn’t allow the main control board to send power to the burner assembly if the burner circuit is interrupted. This feature is very convenient for safety, but it makes troubleshooting more complicated, especially for novice technicians. However, our technicians are well-experienced and have comprehensive knowledge regarding all appliances, including the trickiest ones.
This particular dryer was successfully diagnosed and fixed by replacing the glitchy infrared flame detector. The repair comes with an OEM part and a 6-month warranty!
